Summer Seaside Blanket

I must admit I was pretty scared to make my own pattern. I heard lots of stories about crochet designers that they were sued by another one because of the stealing patterns and also the rules when you can claim a pattern as your own etc. I was just simply intimidated by that.

One day I just woke up and just did it. I created my first blanket pattern. Since than I can't stop designing and my head is full of ideas.

What you need for this pattern:

• Yarn - I used 7 skeins of RED HEART super saver fleck 6oz/170g, worsted weight,

approx. 2100 m in total

• Hook - 5mm/US 8 H

• Scissors, Ruler min. 12inch/30cm (for the tassels, optional)

Abbreviations and symbols:

ch - chain

TR - treble crochet

ESC - extended single crochet

ch sp - chain space

sk - skip

st - stitch

Crochet Chart:

NOTES:

• You crochet this blanket in lengthwise

• Chains at the end of the rows count as first stitches for the next rows

Directions:

Ch 251 (or any odd number if you want the blanket longer or shorter). If you follow my pattern you'll get approx. 43" wide and 74" long blanket.

Row 1 - 1 tr into 4th ch from the hook, 1 tr into next ch. Repeat until the end of the row ending with 1 tr into the last ch. Ch 3 and turn.

Row 2 – 1 tr into the next st, 1 tr to the each next st until the end of the row. Ch 4 (counts as a 1 tr in the 3. row PLUS 1 ch). Turn.

Row 3 – 1 tr into the second st from the first tr, *ch 1 (skip 1 tr from the previous row), 1 tr into the next st**. Repeat * to ** until the end of the row. Ch 4. Turn.

Row 4 – 1 tr into the first ch sp, ch 1 (skip 1 tr from the previous row), 1 tr into the next ch sp. Repeat until the end of the row. Last tr is NOT into the last ch sp BUT into the last st. Ch 2. Turn.

Row 5 – *1 Ex SC into the ch sp, 1 Ex Sc into the next st.** Repeat * to ** until the end of the row. Last Ex SC into last st. Ch 2. Turn

Row 6 – 1 Ex SC into the 2nd st (first st counts as a first ExSC), 1 Ex SC into the each st until the end of the row. Ch 4. Turn.

Row 7 + 8 – same as row 3 and 4.

Row 9 + 10 – same as row 1 and 2.

REPEAT ROW 2 to ROW 10 until you get in total 66 rows. Your last rows of the blanket is row 9 and 10 (triple crochet in each stitch)

FRINGE – cut 5 strings of yarn x 30cm (approx. 12inch) folded on half for each fringe. I’ve attached 1 fringe to the end of 2 rows in the middle. See pictures below.
