DIRECTIONS
Bottom
If you feel that you need bigger or smaller bottom for your bag, you can always add/reduce the increasing rounds as you need.
CH 3, Sl St to you first chain (you created a little loop)
RND 1 - Into the loop make 6 SC (you can attach your stitch marker to your first st so you know where is the end of the round), make invs. sl st (continue with rnd 2)
RND 1 - create a Magic Ring, then 6 SC into the ring, invs. sl st to the first SC
From now on you’ll be increasing each row about 6 sts.
RND 2 - 2 SC in each stitch (12 sts in total), invs. sl st YouTube 5:31 - Second Round
RND 3 - 1 SC into the same st as you made the invs. sl st, next stitch 2 SC, 1SC, 2 SC , repeat from to until the end of the rnd), invs. sl st. - (18 sts in total) YouTube 10:00 - Third Row
RND 4 - this round you always make your increasing into the 3rd st with 2SC (SC, SC, 2SC), you repeat this until the end of the row with your 2SC into the last st, invs. sl st (24 sts in total)
RND 5 - this round you always make your increasing into the 4th st with 2SC (SC, SC, SC, 2SC), you repeat this until the end of the row with your 2SC into the last st, invs. sl st (30 sts in total)
RND 6 - incr. every 5th st with 2SC (SC, SC, SC, SC, 2SC), invs sl st, (in total 36 sts)
RND 7 - incr. every 6th st with 2SC (SC, SC, SC, SC, SC, 2SC), invis. sl st, (in total 42 sts)
RND 8 - incr. every 7th st witth 2SC, invs. sl st, (in total 48 sts)
RND 9 - incr. every 8th st with 2SC, invs. sl st, (in total 54 sts)
RND 10 - incr. every 9th st with 2SC, invs. sl st, (in total 60 sts)
If you’d like bigger bottom for your mat, continue with increasing until your desired size. You always increase the round about 6 sts (next row = incr. every 10th st with 2SC, next one every 11th, then every 12th etc.
Sides
From now on you always have 60 sts (or any number of sts of your last rnd of the bottom) for the entire pattern.
RND 11 - you make sl st into the each st in BLO until the end of the row, invs. sl st
RND 12 - Ch 1 + SC into the same st, SC in BLO in each stitch until the end of the row, sl st
RND 13 - CH 3 (ch 2 = 1DC + ch 1), sk st, DC, ch 1 (+ sk st = you create a chain space), DC, ch 1 (sk st), DC, ch 1, repeat from to until the end of the row. You should make your ch 1 as a last st, then sl st YouTube 27:50 - Chain Spaces Row
RND 14 - ch 1 and SC into the same st, SC in every stitch, sl st
RND 15 - RND 58 - Repeat RND 13 and RND 14
Top
RND 59 - ch 1 + SC in the same st, SC in every st until the end of the row, invs. sl st
RND 60 to RND 62 - SC in every st, invs. st
RND 63 - in this row every 5th st you’ll create a ch sp = SC, SC, SC, SC, ch 1 (sk the st), SC…… In total you should have 12 holes in this row, your last stitch is the ch sp, invs. sl st
RND 64 - to RND 68 - repeat rnd 59
Finishing the Top
Cut a long string that you weave through the 12 holes and then you attach the cord lock. You can add 1 bead to the end of each tail just for a nice touch or make a knot so the cord lock will not slip (optional).
Strap
For the strap we crochet a basic Tunisian stitch. There’s no need for a special hook.
CH 5
ROW 1 - insert the hook into the next ch and pull up the loop (keep that loop on your hook, then you pull up the loop through each ch and you keep the loops on your hook until the end of the chain (you should have 5 loops on your hook
ROW 2 - YO and pull up the loop through the first loop on your hook, then YO pull through 2 loops, YO pull through 2 loops until you get to the end of the row
ROW 3 - you can see the vertical loops on the row, insert the hook into the next vertical loop, YO and pull up the loop (keep the loop on your hook), this way you continue until the end of the row and you should have 5 loops on your hook again
ROW 4 to desired length - repeat ROW 2 and 3 with you last row or the row 2 ( I made 63” long strap).
DON’T SEW the strap together just yet.
Assembling Yoga Mat Bag
Now grab your two wooden rings and attach them to the bag. One on the back of the bag (for the top one right behind the front where the cord lock is (on your 59th row - first row of the top part). The second one at the bottom on your 11th row (align the second ring with the top one so it’s straight under).
Once your wooden rings are attached then put the strap in it and make sure it’s not twisted. Connect the ends together, weave in all end and your YOGA BAG IS DONE:)
